I was going to record “Power Chord Trilogy Volume 2” but didn’t have time so I decided to record “Power Chord Trilogy Volume 3” instead. These songs are far better than the ones I would have written for that album anyway. I also got hung up in a semi-side project I dubbed “OTM (One Too Many) Evolution of a Riff” in which I made multiple songs from the same riff, because when I get sparked and come up with a idea I often think “Which way should I go with this?”, and I am never sure if I made the correct choice. Sometimes when you play a song live for a while it mutates to its more natural state, it organically finds its pocket. But there hasn’t been any live gigs since the before times so I thought why not see how many ways I can go with it. This all started when I was in a secondhand musical instrument store and bought two child-sized mini Flying Vs on a whim. As usual when I test drive a new guitar a song popped out immediately and I had it recorded in less than an hour, it was “One Too Many (Drink Up)”. Later that day I recorded a slower version that eventually became “One Too Many (The Bridge)” with Ron Whitehead vocalizing his lyrics and it appeared on his album “Down & Out in Kentucky Never Give Up”. So far I have six versions counting remix collaborations. If you have an idea for the riff then have at it.

I hope you dig these tunes because I made them just for you.

XOXO, Ye Haul,

S.C.
